Unfortunately, no one can be told what Redcore Linux is. You have to see it for yourself!

Installing Redcore Linux on local machine

Hi all,

I thought I would support Redcore and give the distro a try on one of my laptops.

When I attempted to boot the ISO via USB, I am getting 'error: unknown file system', then it boots into grub's rescue mode.

I used rufus to format the USB and tried setting it up as MBR and GPT, however the same error occurred.

Do you have any tips on how to resolve these issues? Or is Redcore only supported on VirtualBox currently?

Re: Installing Redcore Linux on local machine

Hi,

The error message just tell you that it cannot read the ISO filesystem wich is a very good indication that you ISO is corrupted.
I would say check the ISO it must be corrupted.  I have an ISO here and it boot without problem but this an ISO I downloaded at the beginning of October.
Yours must be more recent.

See :  How to check ISO

Re: Installing Redcore Linux on local machine

To copy the iso to the USB just use DD, it works (on linux only).

the command is :

#  dd if=/path/your.iso  of=/dev/sdb  bs=1M status=progress ; sync;

where /dev/sdb is the path of your USB key that you can find with "lsblk".

Good luck! & Merry Xmas ;=)
