Unfortunately, no one can be told what Redcore Linux is. You have to see it for yourself!
You are not logged in.
I never received an answer to this post.
But after an upgrade everything works fine now.
That worked!
How to have a list of all possible installable packages ?
Then i can filter with grep on keywords like "redcore" or "theme" ?
To see if i have all the good stuff.
Booting shows no scrolling text lines but only 3 dots.
When i go to another vty i can start almost any desktop so the system works fine.
What i did :
/etc/default/grub
->
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT='text'
And i disabled the rc service :
display-manager
Why don't i see scrolling lines during boot like other distro's.
[Note : i use proprietary nvidia drivers]
Note i can not login in the vty who is booting ...
enlightenment desktop & windowmaker desktop have no "firefox" sound.
That worked
Mostly I use firefox or vscode. But then randomly the desktop crashes.
My thoughts are on hardware acceleration of my nvidia msi drivers.
I tried to install the closed source once from msi www site.
But then my desktop became unbootable.
I took me hours to re-install everything from scratch.
Is there a procedure written to follow installing closed source drivers ?
These crashes are really annoying.
Installing the drivers modified initramfs.
How to solve ?
My video card is :
1:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU106 [GeForce RTX 2060 12GB] (rev a1)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation TU106 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
This worked. Now i have a working mate desktop. But rust is still lacking on llvm i have the impression.
Note i have llvm 18 installed
Error :

Should i add something to package.use ?
The boot shows an image.
How to boot without that image and see lines scrolling.
How to boot into a terminal ?
Is it possible to install redcore-linux on Windows WSL.
If so, how ?
Thanks. This solved the problem. But i do not understand how & why ?
I use python 3.11
sisyphus install calibre --ebuild

what do i put in package.use or any other file to solve the slot conflict.
I removed all package.mask for ruby.
I set package.use ruby_targets_ruby31
And i uninstalled ruby-3.2.3.
eselect ruby set 1
Now everything works fine.
Thanks.

What am i doing wrong ?
zfs is broken (again).
My guess is the default kernel is too new for the zfs drivers.
Maybe the solution is to install an older kernel and pin it down.
No idea how i can do that.
-Can i install dlang compiler ?
Gentoo website tells,
root #emerge --ask --noreplace app-eselect/eselect-repository dev-vcs/git
root #eselect repository enable dlang
root #emerge --sync dlang
I'm afraid of mixing gentoo stuff & redcore.
Not a question.
My gentoo upgrade got broken beyond repair.
But my redcore install is live and kicking.
Note : upgrades should be easy.
I've added "gui-wm/wayfire:gentoo" to /etc/portage/package.mask directory.
This seems to have solved the problem.
wayfire does not build anymore.
So i forcefully removed wayland.
But now "sisyphus upgrade --ebuild" always fails because it wants to pull in wayfire because of dependencies.
So i'm stuck.
And as wayfire is not installed i don't know what's dependent on it...
Can i blacklist this package so it is not pulled in by "sisyphus upgrade --ebuild".
Can i disable apparmor or is this a terrible idea for security ?
My Gentoo O.S. became so corrupt i had to delete it. I must find another way to take over the compile&use flags. Maybe manually on file by file base.
Recompile time is not a problem. It's a fast PC.
I will try on gentoo remove /etc/portage & copy over the /etc/portage from Redcore.
Problem is i don't have the "best use-flags-options" on gentoo. For me it's really big with alot of ~amd for all the exceptions.
